Hot Books New Books An appropriately epic conclusion to a solid run。 I always like to see Jay in action, plus we got Max Mercury too! Makes we want to go read the 90s Impulse run。 I love a good story where all the villains team up to give the hero a terrible time。 Problem is, this wasn't a good story。 Once Reverse-Flash gathers up all the rogues, the plan makes no sense。 He wants to possess him。。。why? An appropriately epic conclusion to a solid run。 I always like to see Jay in action, plus we got Max Mercury too! Makes we want to go read the 90s Impulse run。

I love a good story where all the villains team up to give the hero a terrible time。 Problem is, this wasn't a good story。 Once Reverse-Flash gathers up all the rogues, the plan makes no sense。 He wants to possess him。。。why? The rogues attack Barry Allen-connected places to make him feel bad and then。。。that's it。 So it barely feels like a villain team up or Legion of Zoom as they call it。 The only part I really liked was SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER when Zoom actually got an army of Flash villains an I love a good story where all the villains team up to give the hero a terrible time。 Problem is, this wasn't a good story。 Once Reverse-Flash gathers up all the rogues, the plan makes no sense。 He wants to possess him。。。why? Collects The Flash issues #756-762This is the conclusion to Joshua Williamson's long run on "The Flash," and he did a lot of good for the Flash mythos。 There are tons and tons of Flash cast characters in this grande finale, with many references to the pre-Flashpoint DC Universe that I'm not very familiar with。 A lot of DC fans would probably be disappointed to hear this, but I mainly jumped onboard with DC Comics at the start of the New 52, so all of the character returns that are making long-ti Collects The Flash issues #756-762This is the conclusion to Joshua Williamson's long run on "The Flash," and he did a lot of good for the Flash mythos。 There are tons and tons of Flash cast characters in this grande finale, with many references to the pre-Flashpoint DC Universe that I'm not very familiar with。 A lot of DC fans would probably be disappointed to hear this, but I mainly jumped onboard with DC Comics at the start of the New 52, so all of the character returns that are making long-time fans happy don't mean as much to me。 。。。more

Flash is my favourite superhero of all time, but his stand alone comics never really gets me to the hype I get from his appearances with the justice league, in the events comics。 That being said, I did like most of the ending, all of the beginning, some of the fights, but always found it lacking something。。。 I knew that flash can't lose and that took a lot of fun out of it, even in the ending he could've lost a bit more。 The change in the Flash mindset at the end felt so sudden and rushed, I nee Flash is my favourite superhero of all time, but his stand alone comics never really gets me to the hype I get from his appearances with the justice league, in the events comics。 That being said, I did like most of the ending, all of the beginning, some of the fights, but always found it lacking something。。。 I knew that flash can't lose and that took a lot of fun out of it, even in the ending he could've lost a bit more。 The change in the Flash mindset at the end felt so sudden and rushed, I needed more explanation and less running。。。 running in comics is not as fun, let them talk more without making us get bored from the action-less pages, its a fine line but that what make a great flash comic, and for me this one was good, but not great。 3。5 out of 5。 。。。more

A solid ending to a super epic Flash run。 The entire volume stays in tone。

The FlashAnother great flash book。 Nice to see all the speedster in one book。 And the end of the reverse flash for now。

Like most of Joshua's run, I thought this volume was solid entertainment。 With maybe a little bit of an exception to a couple things that Thawne did, the rest was pretty standard superhero fare: villain gains the upper hand, hero learns something new or about himself which allows him to come back and fight the villain, the entire supporting cast comes out to help。 Everything mostly made sense and I think Joshua tried to correct a few past mistakes (not necessarily made by him。) It's a satisfying Like most of Joshua's run, I thought this volume was solid entertainment。 With maybe a little bit of an exception to a couple things that Thawne did, the rest was pretty standard superhero fare: villain gains the upper hand, hero learns something new or about himself which allows him to come back and fight the villain, the entire supporting cast comes out to help。 Everything mostly made sense and I think Joshua tried to correct a few past mistakes (not necessarily made by him。) It's a satisfying, but maybe not a tremendously original ending to a run that for the most part was a fun read。 I'd say it was about 25 issues too long, because I was ready for a different style of writing and see Williamson's take on a different character or title。 。。。more

joshua Williamson's run on The Flash stops here, cementing his place in Flash history with an amazing run! A look back at my reviews on the previous Volumes will show you just how much he added to Flash lore, and it shows fully in this Volume。Picking up where the last Volume left off, Reverse Flash is speeding around trying to create his own "Reverse Flash family" which ends up being called the Legion of Zoom (which I love!)。 He grabs them from all points in time, so they end up coming from the joshua Williamson's run on The Flash stops here, cementing his place in Flash history with an amazing run! Fairly average。 Not a bad ending but it goes over old ground。 Williamson basically waves a magic wand and undoes most of what the new 52 did to the flash family。 Good thing this is Willamson's last race because you can tell it's time for a new writer and new direction for the series。 Fairly average。 Not a bad ending but it goes over old ground。 Williamson basically waves a magic wand and undoes most of what the new 52 did to the flash family。 Good thing this is Willamson's last race because you can tell it's time for a new writer and new direction for the series。 。。。more

The final collected edition in Williamson's run focuses on Eobard Thawne, and does a good job of it。 There's plenty of action, but also some reflection on the character and his motivations。 It's also an ode of sorts to the Flash Family, with Barry the core of it, but the presence of his support network also being crucial。 This makes it partially an excuse to get as many supporting heroes and villains into the last few issues as humanly possible, even if some of them just appear once or twice in The final collected edition in Williamson's run focuses on Eobard Thawne, and does a good job of it。 There's plenty of action, but also some reflection on the character and his motivations。 It's also an ode of sorts to the Flash Family, with Barry the core of it, but the presence of his support network also being crucial。 This makes it partially an excuse to get as many supporting heroes and villains into the last few issues as humanly possible, even if some of them just appear once or twice in the background of a splash panel。 It feels a little self-indulgent at times, but if a writer can't be self-indulgent at the end of their run, then when can they be? (And I do feel some sympathy for Avery when she keeps having to say "who's THAT?" - albeit she mainly says it about the characters I recognise, not the many I didn't)。 This has the feeling of a celebratory lap, which I guess is the point。 。。。more

A solid finish and while this run had issues I enjoyed a good portion。 This time Barry goes to all his friends and lets them know what's up。 That Reverse Flash is gathering up peeps to take him out。 This time he tries to protect them but also relies on them to help him。 This also leads to pretty much any speedster ever created for Flash Family to come in and get a chance to shine for a page or two。 A big grand, maybe little fan-fic type ending, but it does bring a smile to my face as a big Flash A solid finish and while this run had issues I enjoyed a good portion。 This time Barry goes to all his friends and lets them know what's up。 That Reverse Flash is gathering up peeps to take him out。 This time he tries to protect them but also relies on them to help him。 This also leads to pretty much any speedster ever created for Flash Family to come in and get a chance to shine for a page or two。 A big grand, maybe little fan-fic type ending, but it does bring a smile to my face as a big Flash fan。 Now that this is done I'm excited to move on to Wally taking over for awhile。 By far the best flash, but this was a solid ending。 A 3 out of 5。 。。。more

Joshua Williamson closes out his long-time Flash run by blowing up The Flash's history before retconning it。 DC's many reboots had made a mess of Flash history。 All the timey-wimey stuff that has never happened now because Barry and Iris never went to the future and had the Tornado Twins。 But somehow they still have even though Iris is young again。 It's all been a mess since they brought Barry back in Infinite Crisis, then Flashpoint and the New 52 especially screwed it up。 So Williamson attempt Joshua Williamson closes out his long-time Flash run by blowing up The Flash's history before retconning it。 DC's many reboots had made a mess of Flash history。 All the timey-wimey stuff that has never happened now because Barry and Iris never went to the future and had the Tornado Twins。 But somehow they still have even though Iris is young again。 It's all been a mess since they brought Barry back in Infinite Crisis, then Flashpoint and the New 52 especially screwed it up。 So Williamson attempts to fix it all by waving a magic wand over it so it has all happened now。 Don't think about it too much (because the future stuff with Barry's descendants still doesn't make sense。) The story was fine, just nothing exceptional。Rafa Sandoval and Christian Duce draw most of the arc。 They make the book look slick。 Long time Flash artists, Scott Kolin and Howard Porter, fill in as neccessary。 。。。more

A good end to the Williamson Flash run that makes strong use of Reverse Flash, the villain that just keeps on giving。 Williamson nicely ties up a lot of the loose ends of his run, and meanwhile returns a number of Flash cast members that were still missing post-FP。 The result feels celebratory and conclusive。Though parts of Williamson's run were uneven, as a whole I'd be happy to have some nice omnibuses to go next to the Waid and Johns runs。 A good end to the Williamson Flash run that makes strong use of Reverse Flash, the villain that just keeps on giving。 Williamson nicely ties up a lot of the loose ends of his run, and meanwhile returns a number of Flash cast members that were still missing post-FP。 The result feels celebratory and conclusive。Though parts of Williamson's run were uneven, as a whole I'd be happy to have some nice omnibuses to go next to the Waid and Johns runs。 。。。more

The final volume of Joshua Williamson's Flash run collects the last seven issues, bringing Barry face to face with Eobard Thawne for one final confrontation。This last arc really has it all - Williamson pulls every Rogue and Flash villain he can find out of his hat, including some I never expected to see again, while making sure that Thawne is front and centre every time。 This arc actually reminds me of the less successful Zoom story near the end of the New 52 Flash run, because it has a similar The final volume of Joshua Williamson's Flash run collects the last seven issues, bringing Barry face to face with Eobard Thawne for one final confrontation。This last arc really has it all - Williamson pulls every Rogue and Flash villain he can find out of his hat, including some I never expected to see again, while making sure that Thawne is front and centre every time。 This arc actually reminds me of the less successful Zoom story near the end of the New 52 Flash run, because it has a similar premise but manages to do it far more successfully。 Not only that, but it also manages to help explain some Flash history with one of those 'yellow space bug made me do it' type retcons, before bringing things to a satisfyingly hopeful close。On art we have Christian Duce, Rafael Sandoval, and Scott Kolins for the first five issues before Howard Porter brings everything to a close。 These four have probably pencilled the most issues out of the entire run so it's only fitting that they bring it to an end as well。Finish Line's an immensely enjoyable ending to a series that Joshua Williamson has taken from strength to strength。 The next creative teams have some big shoes to fill, because this run's going to be up there with the Waid and Johns stuff in the annals of comic book history, at least if you ask me。 。。。more
